Sometimes, I wish I did something tangible

I often think I’m in the wrong business. Building software isn’t like creating anything else. Unless you’re building consumer software or doing website design, often there isn’t really anything tangible that you can show your friends and family and say, “See that? *I* built that.”

The video below is a wing-loading test of the Boeing 777. I don’t think I’ve ever felt the type of job satisfaction that these engineers experience.

Also: the next time your airliner hits an air pocket, and you see the wings flex upward, don't sweat it.
