Better than I thought

I spent tonight catching up on some of last week’s Daily Show coverage of the RNC.

This clip in particular from September 3 knocks a hanging curve out of the park.  I don’t know what video indexing technology TDS has, but Google needs to scoop it up.  The show’s ability to pull up video clips of politicians and pundits contradicting themselves is remarkable.  The Dems should just run this clip over and over again with “My name is Barack Obama, and I approve of this message” tacked on the end.

“Public skepticism that Republicans share Americans’ environmental values raises an important question. Have Republicans abandoned their roots as the party of Theodore Roosevelt, who maintained that government’s most important task, with the exception of national security, is to leave posterity a land in better condition than they received it?”
John McCain, Nov 1996

Drill here, drill now, indeed.  Do Republicans not understand that cameras and newspapers mean “permanent record of what I say”?

  1. They understand. They just don’t care. Spin, talking points, PR, etc…it makes historical fact and logic nearly irrelevant in the face of the attention span, capacity for reason and interest level of the average voter.
